President's Message 2024/25

Hi everyone,

As the summer in Dublin heads into its final few weeks, I thought this would be a good time to say hello. And importantly, to say that it is an honour and a privilege to have been elected President of Blackrock College RFC for the 2024-25 season.

Blackrock College RFC has such long established ties with so many families and individuals and on behalf of the club I would like to thank everyone, all our players, coaches, volunteers and supporters for your continued support for the club. As well as for all the hard work in maintaining the high regard in which this club is held. Locally, nationally and internationally.

It has been the hard work of all involved in the club over the years to help the club perform so well on so many levels and we need to continue supporting all our teams. While enjoying the club, its people, and the game.

I want to wish every success to our new club captain, Roy Whelan who succeeds Brian Colclough this year. I extend my thanks to Brian for his leadership and hard work last season and I have no doubt that the club and it members are fully behind Roy and all the players for the season ahead.

To our outgoing President, Paul Flavin, and my fellow executive members, thank you for your enormous efforts and hard work over the past seasons. It has been the hard work of everyone that has got us to where we are today. I now look forward to working for another year with the executive, to grow the club and deliver for all the teams and the Blackrock College RFC members.

For all our teams competing in the AIL leagues, U20’s, Youth’s, Mini’s, Boy’s and Girl’s and Tag, the teams who make up the club that is Blackrock College RFC, I wish you every success for the season ahead. All our sides have excelled in winning trophies over the past year and lead the way amongst Leinster clubs. These teams are a credit to our club. It’s also great to see so many of our rugby players being selected on the Leinster and Irish team throughout the year. Blackrock College RFC have a vibrant youth’s and mini’s section and I would encourage all parents to come down to Stradbrook, have a coffee or a drink and get involved with the club. All are very welcome and the rugby is excellent.

We are grateful for the continued generosity of our sponsors.  Their role is vital in maintaining our facilities and providing the best possible opportunities to our players. I thank you enormously for your ongoing help in this regard. It is greatly appreciated.

Blackrock College RFC relies on you the members to come down and support the club and I encourage you all to continue to do so. Without you we cannot succeed and continue to deliver on our club’s ambitions. Finally, I would ask you all to make sure you use the facility, support the teams, use the bar, attend a lunch, meet friends, and enjoy the rugby.

See you all in the club.
