It was the annual Blackrock College RFC takeover at Milltown Golf Club for the rugby club's annual Golf Classic event on Thursday 21st May. A mighty effort by the defending champions, BLG Chartered Accountants captained by Steve Young, saw them in a strong contention with a valiant fourth place result. However, it was an early morning tee time for the team from Blackrock College AFC made up of Luke Fitzgerald, Dillon Coghlan, Rob Dalton and Jules Mak who took the spoils this year. With only a .9 points difference, the runner-ups in 2nd place team were David Brophy, Robert Brophy, Neil Francis and Brian O'Sullivan. Another very close margin separated the third place team sponsored by Ray O'Connor of Modern Flooring Agencies, and made up of Ronnie O'Connor, John Merren, along with Laura and John McCarthy. Well done to all our golfers who made a great effort out in Milltown.

The mild May weather was pleasantly welcomed as the morning teams tee'd off, starting with a Players Team led by Odhran Ring, with Matt Dwan, Michael Taaffe and Paul McSweeney, the other teams soon followed the course, wrapping up in time for a delicious lunch provided by the golf cub. Soon after, 23 teams took to their designated holes for the afternoon shotgun start. A light afternoon spring rain didn't deter our golfers from playing some great rounds out on the course.

That evening saw nearly 100 guests attend the prize giving and dinner event, and overall it was a fantastic atmosphere in the clubhouse dining room.
