Mixed fortunes for our teams last weekend. The results and match reports are included in the newsletter below.
On Friday night I dropped down to the Club to watch the recently formed Men’s 3rd team play their first league match vs CYM. Great to watch the attacking rugby on display and to see many players from other squads (men and women) lending their support.
Saturday was very busy and while both men’s teams came out of the wrong side of results in College Park there were signs that with more game time together and the return of some of our injured players , victories are not far away. Thanks to everyone for the very vocal and positive support for the lads.
Our women’s firsts team were unlucky to lose against UL Bohs when an early red card put us at a numerical disadvantage. The strength in depth of our women’s squad was demonstrated in a resounding victory for our seconds team.
What a day for our Youth’s teams on Sunday! I took advantage of the 5pm start to the Ryder Cup to get down to watch the u13s,14s and 17s. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing all teams win their matches playing high risk attacking rugby. Well done to everyone involved. The future of the Club is in good hands.
Another busy weekend coming up with the Men playing their first AIL home match vs Highfield and our Women playing Old Belvedere away. See the full fixtures list above.
I would encourage you all again to get out to support our teams. It’s really enjoyable and I know all support is much appreciated.
I am delighted to see so many Mums and Dads of our minis booked in for the pre match lunch this Saturday. You are all most welcome and I hope you have a very enjoyable day. Please spread the word to your friends and fellow parents.
There is lots of work going on to improve the AIL match day experience, making it a real Club day. This Saturday we have organised music before the game and live music afterwards. We have also chosen a new menu for the lunch… hope you enjoy it!
Yours in Rugby,
