It is with the greatest sadness that the Club shares the news of the tragic passing of one of our players today, John Kirby.
Kirby was involved in an accidenhttp://RIP.iet in Austin, Texas last Friday evening, where he was living, along with his great friend and fellow Blackrock player, Ross Barron.
We all know Kirby from his days playing 2nd XV & 1st XV in the Club with distinction. John made a huge impact both on and off the field, and it goes without saying how much he will be sadly missed by so many close friends on the squads.
On behalf of Club President, Mick Dwan, the Executive Committee, and all our Club Members, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Kirby Family at this time.
Funeral arrangements have been announced on RIP.ie:
A private family reposing will take place on Monday 3rd November. Funeral mass at 11am Tuesday 4th November in Church of the Sacred Heart, Donnybrook Church D04HW82, followed by cremation service at 1.45pm in the Victorian Chapel, Mount Jerome Crematorium, Harold’s Cross D6WHY98.
A book of condolences is also open on RIP.ie.
May John rest in eternal peace.
Please refer to a message from Director of Rugby, Mick Hearty.
