Following the appointment of Ben Martin to Women's Director of Rugby, Blackrock College RFC is seeking to appoint a Head Coach for its Women’s AIL 1st XV for the 2023/24 season.
Over the last number of years Blackrock College RFC has developed some of the best facilities and support structures in Irish club rugby and this is an exciting opportunity to stamp your mark on a club with a proud rugby history.
Purpose
In conjunction with the Women’s Director of Rugby, the successful applicant will lead the Women’s Rugby agenda within the Club. The successful applicant will work with team management and the rugby leadership team to create processes, training plans and an environment that will continue to develop players to meet their potential as rugby players and people.
Key Responsibilities
To lead the coaching programme for the Women’s Rugby.
Plan the coaching programme for the season.
Own all elements of forward pack training programs and match strategies.
With the Director of Womens Rugby lead the recruitment process to identify and evaluate potential new players
Develop game and training strategies aligned to the ability of the playing squad.
Plan, prepare and deliver coaching sessions for the Women’s squad ensuring that all sessions are designed to develop the skills and understanding of the players.
Lead match day processes and implement in conjunction with team management.
Evaluate all coaching sessions and games with the coaching team and players.
Provide feedback to coaches, players and appropriate club committees
Lead the team culture, working with other team management to ensure the team is organised, disciplined and has a positive team spirit ensuring the team had pride in themselves, their Club and their sponsors

I’m delighted to be in a position to continue to support the women's program in Blackrock. The newly established position of DOR for the women's section is one that I am proud to accept and looking to build on our recent success. The role will allow our program to grow and strategically plan for a sustainable womens section that continues to develop the next generation of representative players and coaches. Over the last few seasons we have re established ourselves as one of the top programs in the country and a place where players and coaches challenge themselves to grow and ultimately succeed on and off the pitch.
