On a Cold and wet April Afternoon the Rock Div 8 team beat St Marys in Templeville Road. A try by Evan O'Sullivan and a Tom Taaffe Penalty had rock lead 10-3 before a horrific injury to their out half, James Burke, meant that the game had to be moved from the main pitch in Templeville Road to one of the back pitches.
After twenty minutes of inactivity Rock came out the better. A perfectly weighted Mark Godfrey cross field kick dropped into Nicky Whites hands and Marys were powerless to stop him crossing the line.
15-3 lead to a tense last twenty minutes.
Marys did cross for an unconverted try but Rocks defence held out for a final scoreline of 15-8.
The Rock Div 8 panel wish James Burke the speediest of recoveries, it is never good to see injuries of this level on the pitch, but unfortunately, they do happen.
