Blackrock College RFC are delighted to announce Ian Madigan will join the coaching staff for the Men’s and Women's 1st XV for the upcoming 2023/2024 season as attack coach.
“Ian has a rich history in Blackrock having started his adult playing career in the club. He made a huge impact on and off the field as a player and we are thrilled to welcome him back to the club,” said Mick Hearty, BCRFC Director of Rugby.
Over the summer, Ian Madigan lent his expertise to the content and coaching of the first Blackrock Rugby Camp in July.
Madigan announced his retirement from professional rugby last week in an emotional post on social media. The 34-year-old former fly-half for Ireland and Ulster outlined his incredible career and thanked coaches, friends, and family for their support.
'While I have had to retire through injury this isn't a sad story, it's one of amazing memories,' said Madigan.
From all of us at Blackrock College RFC: Congratulations on your retirement, Ian! It is hard-earned and well-deserved. We are thrilled to be part of the next chapter of your career.
The first Senior Men's match of the AIL season is Away against U.C.C. on 7th October. Our next Senior Women's match will also take place on the 7th October Away in Wicklow.
