Sharks Girls' Rugby Tour to Brighton Hove - A Weekend to Remember!
Last weekend, girls from our u14 Sharks team (combined team with Blackrock, Old Belvedere, Wanderers and Terrenure) and girls from the U12s and U10’s Blackrock and Terrenure teams, embarked on an unforgettable rugby tour to Brighton & Hove, perfectly timed to coincide with Ireland's clash against New Zealand in the Women's Rugby World Cup.
Making a Difference On and Off the Pitch
The girls proudly wore their new Sharks jerseys featuring the Mary's Meals logo, representing an organisation that provides vital nutrition to underprivileged children worldwide. Thanks to a generous anonymous sponsor, we were able to showcase this important cause throughout our tour, spreading awareness for children in need. Donate here: https://bit.ly/TheSharksMarysMeals
A Weekend Packed with Rugby Magic
The tour was brilliantly organised across three action-packed days:
Meet the team! Friday: An exclusive meet and greet with four players from the Ireland Women's team, alongside some RFU coaching and beach rugby. This was followed by a trip to the Fanzone and pizza.
Outstanding Performance Against Hove: Saturday: A thrilling match against Hove RFC that was nothing short of spectacular! Our Sharks delivered an impressive 65-20 victory, demonstrating the skill, teamwork, and determination that defines our clubs. The girls played with heart and showed exactly what Sharks rugby is all about. Coach Steve Glynn has set high standards for the rest of the season! The u10/u12s played against Hove u12, with an impressive array of tries and skills on show. This was followed by well-deserved fun on Brighton Pier, the Fanzone to see England take on Australia with a fantastic atmosphere and packed crowd then out for dinner to celebrate
Pitch side seats to see history being made: Sunday: The team and parents had pitch side seats for the Irish Women’s Rugby World Cup final pool match. In a stadium packed with over 30,000 fans the girls were inspired by Irish and New Zealand teams followed who a spine tingling Haka and stand off, with an impressive display of rugby. Wearing their vibrant green tour tops, our girls and accompanying adults were a sea of Sharks pride in the stands. The Mary's Meals logo was clearly visible both from the stands and on the big screen, helping to raise awareness for this worthy cause on an international stage. After the match both teams signed the girls vibrant green jerseys, and one New Zealand player asked the players of the future to sign her top!

A Final Thank You
A huge thank you goes to Kath, whose dedication and hard work made this incredible tour possible. Her efforts ensured our young players experienced a weekend that combined competitive rugby, international exposure, and the joy of representing something bigger than themselves.
This tour exemplified everything we love about rugby - competition, camaraderie, and community spirit. Well done to all our Sharks!
