President's Note

14 February 2023

President John Colclough

Hello everyone,

Well, another week gone and last Saturday saw our Women's senior team make the long trip to Ballincollig on the day of the International and get their cup campaign back on track with a very good victory (50 - 14). The J1, despite a very good performance on Sun lost out to DCU (29 - 26) despite scoring some fabulous tries. That afternoon the Men's Under 20's also narrowly lost out to Greystones (21 - 14) away in a top of the table clash. Both of these games were in the balance right up to final whistle.

This coming weekend sees our Men's J1 team play at home on Friday night against Naas, and then on Saturday sees the beginning of a very tough block of 3 matches for the Senior Men's team. First up is an away match in Navan this Saturday and if its anything like the match back in October in Stradbrook, then it should be a cracker. Again as I ask every week, if you are doing nothing, try and get down and support both teams (it's not a huge journey to Navan). I know for a fact that they really do appreciate it, as do all the other teams.

Off the field, the players held their Ball in the Talbot Hotel last Friday and a great night was had by all who attended (over 150). Many thanks to John Gallagher and his social committee for organizing.

So hope to see you in Navan or around Stradbrook this weekend.

John Colclough
