Hello everyone,
Well, the season is over, and who would have thought we would have got a climax to a rugby season as we did in Stradbrook last Saturday afternoon?
Blackrock and Barnhall played out a wonderful sporting game of rugby with Rock just coming out on top in a titanic battle which swayed one way and then another. In the end the nerves of Peter Quirke edged Rock over the line with his accurate place kicking. We achieved what did not look possible 2 years ago: promotion 2 years in a row to Division 1B.
The game had been preceded by a lunch which catered for the largest crowd of the season at 230 people. Mobile bars and catering trucks looked after everyone else.
The celebrations started immediately after and went long into the night on Saturday, and long into Sunday night for others.
My immense appreciation and gratitude goes out to all who got this huge event across the line. It wasn't easy but when a bunch of like-minded people with the Club at heart put their heads together, it's amazing what they can achieve.
So it's on now to our final event of the year, which is our Club Dinner this Friday night 12th May in Stradbrook. At the time of writing there were a few tickets left but please contact Conor Cleary if you would like to attend.
Finally, thank you to all who contacted me during the year with messages of support. It's nice to know that people actually read these reports!
So, if I do not see you Friday, hopefully I will bump into you over the summer, or please God at the start of next season in Division 1B.
