Hello everyone,
Another massive weekend just gone by in Blackrock. Thursday evening kicked it all off with our Seconds travelling to Enniscorthy and winning with the last kick of the game with a penalty from Ethan Lyons recently returned after a long injury lay off.
Saturday arrived and over 160 attended the pre-match lunch. It was fantastic to see so many old friends back in Rock. Shane Byrne entertained the crowd and we were all set for the big game against Queens who were in second place. Despite leading for almost the whole game we just came up short in the end losing out 28-27 in an absolute fabulous game of Rugby, which the referee commented was as good as anything he has refereed in Div 1A. Anyway, we live to fight another day. We are in joint second and there are 3 games to go with endless permutations available. The league takes a break now for 2 weeks before we head to Old Crescent on the 25th March.
Our women followed us onto the pitch afterwards against UL Bohs, who exerted revenge on Rock for their semi-final loss earlier in the season. Our women return to action this weekend against Galwegians in another difficult away assignment.
Sunday finished off the weekend with our U20s travelling to Galway and unfortunately stumbling also. They have another difficult game this weekend against league leaders Greystones.
So a much different weekend compared to the previous one where we had 4 victories. However, all still to play for for all teams as we enter the real business end of the season.
Enjoy the Internationals over the next few weeks and see you soon.
