President's Message 24.9.25

Our Director of Rugby, Mick Hearty, posted the following on the Rock Supporters WhatsApp Group this week… ’6 Adult teams training every week, plus 8 youths teams, means we have 14 teams who use full size pitches and they all play every weekend. These numbers are at their highest level in 25 years. We also have 500+ minis’. This is fantastic to see and a huge tribute to the work going on, both on and off the pitch. Thank you to everyone involved in making this happen.

What a weekend of rugby in store for all our teams with the start of the Men’s and Women’s AIL. The Castle XV make their debut in a Friday night lights game vs CYM. Saturday sees a Men’s double header vs Trinity in the wonderful setting of College Park while our women have a double header vs UL Bohs in Stradbrook. I want to thank Jen, Amy, Hannah, the women’s squad and their coaches for affording me a very warm welcome at their full day gathering in Stradbrook last Saturday.

On Sunday we have 6 of our youth’s teams representing the Club.

I wish all our teams the very best this weekend. Let’s get out and support our players, coaches and managers.

We have our first Men’s AIL match vs Highfield on Saturday 4^th October. Details of the pre match lunch and how to book are set out below. The lunches are a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon with great company, supporting Club rugby. Please consider getting a table together with friends, fellow members, or parents and come out to support the Club.

The various Parent’s supporters WhatsApp groups are being set up for all squads across the Club- a first step in making you feel very much part of Blackrock College RFC.

Finally, thank you once again to those members who have paid their sub. Another gentle reminder to those who haven’t yet had a chance to please make their payment. Subs are a critical source of income for the Club, especially running a rugby club with our highest number of players in 25 years brings a welcome financial challenge! I appreciate your support.
