Health and Wellbeing Evening

Health and Wellbeing Evening — A Night to Remember at Stradbrook

Last week, Blackrock College PPU, RFC and AFC came together to host the first in what promises to be a landmark series of events — a Health and Wellbeing Evening at Stradbrook, themed around Taking Care of Body and Mind, On and Off the Field.

The turnout and energy on the night reflected just how much this topic resonates across our club community. Three outstanding speakers took to the floor, each bringing a distinct perspective on what it means to look after yourself as an athlete and as a person.

Carole Ann Clarke, Brian Kingston, and Dr. Matthew Sadlier each delivered with genuine expertise and warmth, covering the physical, mental, and medical dimensions of health and wellbeing in sport and daily life. What made the evening particularly special was the open, engaged dialogue that followed — a lively Q&A that saw the audience lean in, ask the hard questions, and leave with real takeaways.

This was an inaugural event, and it set the bar high. The ambition is clear: to build a series that gives our members — players, parents, coaches, and supporters alike — access to the kind of knowledge and conversation that genuinely makes a difference.

Watch this space. There is plenty more to come.

Special thanks to the event organisers- host and President of the PPU, Mark Rogan, RFC Past President Ray McMahon, and AFC Representative, Dillon Coghlan.
