Connacht Under 11s Blitz

Last weekend the Under 11's set forth on mass to Ballina RFC for the Connacht Under 11's Blitz. 

We were keen to take part again as we played in this tournament at under 9's and had a brilliant time. 

30 kids with parents and siblings set off from the club on Friday afternoon and arrived in Castlebar to stay in Breaffy House Resort Hotel. We arrived in time for a quick dip in the pool, dinner and then the main event, Ireland V Wales! 

The hotel provided the ball room and a big screen, Oran O'Reilly (our media man!) provided the projector and speakers, a proper professional set up! A great night was had. 

On Saturday morning, after a hearty breakfast, we set off for Ballina RFC. 

The 2 squads (Inisboffin's & Inismann's) togged out and warmed up for a 10.30am KO. Ballina RFC have superb facilities. One team placed on the main grass pitch and the other on the new state of the art Astro pitch. 

We played teams from Ballina, Sligo, Claremorris, Westport & Ballyhaunis RFC. All the games were very competitive, and the boys came away with some great wins & some close losses too against some big country lads!! The host club were fantastic and we presented the club with Blackrock College Top as a memento of our appreciation. 

The boys were keen to get back to the hotel and dive straight into the pool or out onto the crazy golf course, all on the hotel grounds, while the parents & coaches settled in the bar to watch the remaining 6 nations games and Ireland Under 20's match. 

Sunday morning we all set off on the journey back to Dublin, after a brilliant weekend of rugby, craic and bonding for the kids, parents & coaches alike.
