On Sunday, 23rd September 2018, Blackrock College RFC will host an U14 7’s Festival.

Running 10.00am – 4.00pm, there will be 80 matches, with 16 Irish Clubs including a Lions Development Team from Johannesburg, South Africa.

The 2018 u14 7’s Tournament will take place on the 23rd Sept 2018. This event sets the scene for the rest of the u14 rugby season and also gives the lads a flavour for 7’s rugby. It is the 3rd year that we have run the event and all clubs have found the rugby and participation most enjoyable on all fronts. At each of the previous events we have also raised money to bring a disadvantaged team from South Africa. These talented young players are largely from township areas in and around the Johannesburg region. This year we have formed a relationship with the Gauteng Lions (Super 14) Management and are working with them to bring an u14 Development Team from the townships. We are also hoping to develop this relationship with the Lions with the view to working with them longer-term and continue to sponsor / part-sponsor dis-advantaged players to the Blackrock 7s event each year. We also see this as a possible opportunity for our club to form ties with the Lions on a wider scale (including player exchange).
