Blackrock Go To Wilmslow

Blackrock College RFC once again travelled to represent the club at the Wilmslow Wolves Festival of Rugby at Manchester.

The qualifying dates of birth are different in the U.K. than in Ireland, hence a number of our U10 boys qualified to play as an U9 squad under RFU and tournament rules. Therefore we were represented by one U9 squad and two U10 squads.

Our U9's played four matches in their league and did fantastically well against some great opponents whilst winning three matches and only losing one!

We had two U10 squads travelling and they were placed in separate pools. The Blue team won 2 pool matches, drew one and lost one to finish second in their pool and qualifying for the Bowl Semi Final slot. They played fantastically well, but unfortunately had a perfectly good try to go 2-1 up disallowed.

Their Semi Final finished up the other way around as they lost 2-1. The White team qualified for a Shield Semi Final. They put on a great display of attacking rugby to win their Semi and qualify for a Final.

The Final was a tense affair and finished a 2-2 draw, so extra time was required and we scored the winning try right before the Final Whistle to win the Shield!

Congratulations team Blackrock White on their wonderful win and a huge well done to all our boys for representing Blackrock College RFC so extremely well
