President's Note

17 January 2023

Hello again everyone,

Last Saturday was a very big day in the club. Around 150 guests and club members sat down for the lunch and at the same time our Thirds had a great victory against Barnhall in the league, lifting themselves into the playoff position.

Our Firsts then played their return game against Cashel, and for the second week in a row the result went right down to the wire, but this time Cashel prevailed. All is not lost as our bonus point keeps us in second place and in playoff position. We have two more big games this month, so everything is really up for grabs. A big crowd stayed on and a good night was had by all, despite the result. It really was great meeting a lot of past Rock players who had joined us for the day.

Next weekend is another big one. Our Firsts and Thirds will be playing big matches away on Saturday, with the Firsts traveling to Nenagh and the Thirds have a top of the table clash at Trinity. At home, our Seconds and Under 20's both resume after the Christmas break at home. The Seconds will play against Wesley on Friday and the Under 20's need a win against Galway University on Sunday to keep pressure on the top of the table. All support for all the teams is greatly appreciated.

On a sadder note, at the lunch and before the game we remembered Father Gavin from Willow/Blackrock College, and two past members who passed away before Christmas, Dave Crowe and Derri McCarthy. May they all rest in peace.

Finally, have a great week and hopefully see you next weekend.

John Colclough
