The Div 2 had a must-win clash against top of the table Wesley in a rain-sodden Energia park on Saturday morning and got off to a perfect start thanks to a Ben Ingram try after 5 minutes. With conditions deteriorating, chances were at a premium and Wesley responded with a well worked try before Eoin Fanning scored from close range to give ‘Rock a deserved 14-5 lead at HT. Wesley came out very strong in the second half and scored almost immediately and followed up 10 minutes later to take a 19-14 lead. Rock never gave up and with a minute to go after a number of scrums 5m from the Wesley line the ref finally caved and gave Rock a penalty try to take the lead and the game 21-19! Rock move on to another top of the table clash next up against St. Mary’s.
