Match Report: 1sts v Galwegians


As September draws to an end, and autumn looms, the sun decided to stay out for Galwegians visit to Stradbrook.

A fast start from the visitors with a break up the middle from the No.5 lead to early penalty attempt which was converted by the No.10

More early pressure ultimately led to the first try of the match! 0 - 10

But rock stayed calm and trusted their processes. 14 minutes in and out-half Peter Quirke goes over for Rock’s first score of the day. Unconverted as the wind challenged the No.10. 5 - 10

Followed by another try from a maul and a strong finish from the pack. 10 - 10

The teams traded play after play, each holding their own in defence. A penalty kick from Galwegians proved to be the last score of the half. 10 - 13

A quick penalty early into the first half saw the teams level again, but Galwegians answered promptly! With a converted try 10 - 20

After some great scrummaging and line out work from the rock pack another try followed 20 - 20

More pressure from Rock in The Galwegians 22 saw them go in front for the first time in the game..TRY!! 25 - 20.

In the final minutes of the game rock receive a yellow card, down to 14 men, rock absorbed some fast pressure from the Galwegians backs but in the last play of the game rock turn the tide and get over for a final nail in the coffin TRY!!!

30 - 20

A bonus point opening win for Rock.
