2018 Race Day Highlights

On Saturday the 29th of December, club members, sponsors and friends of Blackrock College RFC were treated to a fantastic day out to finish off the 2018 club calendar year. On the final day of Leopardstown Racecourse's Christmas Festival, guests began arriving to the gorgeously decorated Panoramic Suite just after 11am and were greeted with a champagne reception. Folks were quick to get their bets in as the first race kicked off just after noontime. A private balcony offered guests the opportunity to watch the race from above, or they could stay indoors and view the multiple television screens. For those who hadn't read up on the horses beforehand, there was a tipster present who offered his

On a mild Wednesday the 26th of December, Stradbrook opened its doors during the Christmas break for a special fundraiser, the annual St Stephen's Day GOAL Mile. With hundreds of participants running, walking and jogging 4 laps around the top pitch, we successfully raised over €2500. A big thank you to Conor Coghlan who once again organised the event, as well as kept registration going for the day from 10am - 4pm. Thanks to all the generous participants, including the tippers and tag players, many of whom after their respective matches then participated or contributed to the GOAL Mile. 2016's GOAL Mile total raised was €500, and 2017's total saw just over €800, so it's great to know that thi

Match Report: Women v Cooke

Rock won Saturday's encounter in trying conditions in Stradbrook. The rain that passed earlier in the day left a slick surface and slippery ball for both sides. Rocks indiscipline led to the first score of the game with the Cooke 10 slotting a penalty after 15 minutes of play. After an initial great break from Natasja Behan led to Cooke being camped inside their own 22, Hannah O'Connor being able to level the scores on 3-3 after a high tackle by Cooke. Rock hit back again with a well worked team try. Ali Coleman using sleek footwork to dot down under the posts. With O'Connor slotting the conversion. 10-3 10 mins before half time, Cooke executed a good line out and peeled away from a
