It was a hectic year for the 2008 (U9). As per tradition with 2008’s we kicked off the year with games in September against Lansdowne and Terenure. We then enjoyed another end of season tour to Belfast playing Shaw Bridge Barbarians (Instonians and Cooke) and took in the Ulster v Leinster game in the Kingspan Stadium. Finally we played our last competitive game against Malahide in May. Through-out the season we also played in excess of 20 other teams.
U9’s has seen the introduction of non-competitive scrums and lineouts, with the ethos for the U9 coaching to improve all the boys in the core disciplines (Sportsmanship, Friendship, Passing, Tackling, Rucking, Mauling, Scrumming and Line-outs). As a group the boys have improved at both an individual level and as a team, and this is a credit to them all. We are now looking forward to a new season that will see us move up and try to fill the shoes of the U10’s, and hopefully emulate their successful tours to Shannon and Wilmslow.
